About the role

Join the Technology and Business Transformation team, in the Specialist, Cloud Support Engineer position. The Cloud Support Engineer is accountable for the maintenance, support, and engineering of CMHC platform infrastructure components and environments, primarily within Azure IaaS, PaaS, AKS Clusters, and networking. This role encompasses the full lifecycle of Incident, Change, Problem, and Capacity Management functions. The engineer collaborates closely with development, security, and IT teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of cloud environments, directly supporting business-critical applications and enabling operational excellence and digital transformation.

What you will do
  • Oversee daily operations of cloud and on-premise infrastructure, including log store monitoring, dashboard maintenance, and regular health checks.
  • Manage access permissions, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), ensuring least privilege principles across cloud services and enforcing compliance with organizational policies.
  • Analyze performance metrics, forecast resource usage, and optimize infrastructure for cost efficiency and scalability.
  • Administer and patch CDC servers and Linux environments to maintain system integrity and security.
  • Design and implement robust archiving and backup strategies for cloud and legacy systems, ensuring data availability and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Manage and monitor Azure PaaS SQL instances, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Automate operational tasks and workflows using scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and contribute to CI/CD pipelines for deployment and maintenance.
  • Work closely with development, security, IT, and business teams to ensure operational excellence and facilitate digital transformation. Provide cross-functional support for system integrations, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
What you should have
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as information technology, computer science, or network engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience leading cloud operations or engineering initiatives in enterprise environments.
  • Proven expertise in managing hybrid identity and cloud integration using Azure AD/Entra ID.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure and demonstrated proficiency with either AWS or GCP cloud solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and automation scripting to enable scalable, secure deployments.
  • Deep technical expertise in networking, virtualization, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven ability to implement and optimize enterprise monitoring solutions and lead incident response processes for critical systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in identity security hardening and applying compliance frameworks (e.g., OSFI, ISO 27001).
It would be great if you had
  • Certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate (preferred), AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing advanced identity security measures, including PAM solutions and SIEM/SOAR integration.
  • Proven expertise in understanding Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles and tools.
  • Proven ability to design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and industry-standard tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
  • Strong knowledge of cost optimization strategies and FinOps principles.
