Overview

As part of the Amazon-wide Amazonian Leadership Experiences team, the Senior Leader Experience Execution Engine team's mission is to enable Amazon leaders to implement and operationalize leadership-defined workforce plans, translating strategies into actions. We develop philosophies, mechanisms and products that help leaders execute and guardrail their workforce plan. A successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and launch of a variety of core product features, designing the system architecture, and promoting code quality and best practices. You are passionate about the customer experience, take pride in building high quality software, and have a demonstrable track record of delivering new features and products. You value collaboration, making data-driven decisions, and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages; expert in at least one language.
  • Highly-motivated and thrive in open-ended problem environments.
  • Engage in constructive discussions with teammates to surface the best ideas.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, UX designers and product managers to develop friendly UI experiences.
  • Architect and develop optimal technical designs with engineering teams.
  • Develop and maintain operational rigor for a fast-growing Amazon Search stack.
  • Support hiring and mentoring of teammates.
  • Take user-facing features from design to implementation, coding both UI and backend functionality.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Work with a variety of technologies and enjoy a dynamic, startup-like team environment.
A day in the life
  • Focus on building, not operating; reimagining the executive talent management experience with a clean slate and no legacy code.
  • Leverage the AWS stack to realize the vision of a seamless experience.
  • Work hard and have fun; participate in regular meet-and-greets and collaborative sessions.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling).
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800/year up to $191,800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
