Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) - eCommerce Platforms

100% Remote Canada

Experience: 6 Years

Role Summary

NearSource is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our engineering team focused on cloud-based commerce platforms. The role involves building test automation frameworks executing test plans and ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple eCommerce channels including in-product purchasing, eStore purchasing, and entitlement platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with agile teams to test features and functionality against user story acceptance criteria
  • Design and develop automated test frameworks for cloud-based commerce services
  • Conduct functional regression and performance testing at code and product levels
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across automation and manual test cycles
  • Work closely with product management and design teams to translate requirements into actionable test plans
  • Document and maintain test design plans and results to ensure reusability
  • Review code test plans and provide feedback to QA and development peers
  • Build automated tests from QA-provided test cases using Java-based frameworks
  • Log, track and prioritize defects ensuring timely resolution with development teams
  • Provide proactive input into feature design to prevent integration and production issues
Must-Have Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 6 years of software engineering and test automation experience
  • Strong proficiency with Java and Selenium / WebDriver for automation
  • Experience testing REST APIs and web services using JUnit, TestNG, or similar frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with code coverage, web monitoring, and memory analysis tools
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent documentation practices
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum and continuous delivery methodologies
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL
  • Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other public cloud platforms
