We are responsible for the tax calculation platform, providing the core services that calculate taxes (sales tax and VAT) for all Amazon sales, physical and digital, globally. We thrive on providing the correct tax amounts to the customer at order time, and make sure audit records are stored safely to meet tax law requirements around the globe. Our team stays on top of the complex and ever-changing global tax rates and laws as well as computing calculations correctly and quickly, thousands of times a second, and each one needs to be right. As Tax Insights charter we solve our internal customers' challenges by leveraging GenAI. We are solving key challenges for Tax customer. From Searching Tax attributes, Discovering Tax concepts, to automation of Test results analysis.

We are looking for software engineers who thrive on complex problems to operate complex and mission-critical systems under extreme loads. Our systems manage hundreds of millions of records, and respond to millions of service requests per minute.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in our Java, Linux and Oracle-based environment.

Contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. Collaborate with customers and peers across Amazon's business on new features. Leverage GenAI to solve internal Tax customer challenges, including searching Tax attributes, discovering Tax concepts, and automation of test results analysis. Work in a Java, Linux, and Oracle-based environment to deliver high-quality results under heavy load.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800/year up to $191,800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
