Job Description
The Software Asset and License Management Analyst position requires working at various levels of the organization, from the day-to-day management of license assignments to participating in compliance and reconciliation tasks that will ensure inventory and costs are managed and optimized. The Software Asset Management Analyst position requires responding to requests from software owners, end users, managers, developers, and team members on topics related to IT software asset management.
Responsibilities
- Support the current software management process to ensure compliance with global objectives and legal compliance;
- Store and maintain accurate software license information to address software budgeting, compliance, inventory, contracts, and costs;
- Maintain records related to license key issuance, license portals, vendor contacts, etc.;
- Effectively manage requests regarding software usage, deployment, license availability, and vendor license external audit report requests in a timely manner;
- Develop reports showing license entitlements, installations, usage, renewals, purchase status, and data gaps while researching and developing standardized software asset management processes;
- Monitor and reconcile a wide variety of software licenses and usage, including desktop software, to mitigate compliance risks and reduce costs;
- Respond to requests from software owners, end users, managers, developers, and team members for support related to IT software asset management;
- Support ServiceNow processes and procedures to automate the collection, storage, and communication of key software data so that products can be managed effectively across the enterprise;
- Contribute to the development and implementation of enterprise-wide software asset management policies and procedures that minimize compliance risks, improve the program, and create process efficiencies;
- Deliver consistently high performance and customer satisfaction within cross-functional teams;
- Provide support during software vendor audits. Assist in dispute resolution;
- Recommend appropriate audit initiatives.
Required qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in software asset management and licensing;
- An undergraduate degree is a plus;
- Experience interpreting software license terms and conditions;
- Excellent knowledge of software publisher licensing models and software deployment and usage rights (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, VMware, IBM, etc.);
- Knowledge and experience with software asset lifecycle management processes, planning, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, recovery, and retirement;
- Knowledge of license management and optimization tools, software standardization, lifecycle, and discovery tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Microsoft SCCM, JAMF);
- Knowledge of major software license agreements, EULAs, license renewal and support processes, particularly Microsoft licensing models;
- Advanced problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather, organize, and assimilate large amounts of information;
- Advanced Excel skills;
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively convey complex information
- Excellent organization and management of multiple priorities and/or projects
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills in French and English, as the position requires communicating with clients outside Quebec
