The North Okanagan Friendship Center Society (NOFCS) has been a respected provider of social services for urban Aboriginal people since 1977. Based in Vernon, BC, NOFCS supports individuals with a wide range of programs including counselling, prenatal care, early childhood development, youth and elder programs, housing, and employment training. The Center fosters social, recreational, cultural, and educational activities, deeply rooted in Aboriginal heritage. NOFCS contributes to the overall Friendship Center Movement, aiming to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal people across Canada.

Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role located in Vernon, BC for a Social Worker. The Social Worker will be responsible for providing support and counselling to clients, developing and implementing care plans, conducting client assessments, and coordinating with other service providers. The Social Worker will also participate in community outreach and advocacy, ensure documentation and reporting are up to date, and contribute to program development and evaluation.

Qualifications
  • Experience in client support, counselling, and case management

  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills
  • Relevant educational background in Social Work or a related field
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and history is a plus
