We are looking to hire an experienced shop technician for our client's new shop based in the Hamilton region. In 2025 you will have the opportunity to work in a modern purpose built building with new facilities.

As a technically skilled expert, you will utilize your experienced mechanical skills and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems to perform machine setups, preventative maintenance, and repairs to machinery used in the food manufacturing industry.

Duties
  • Set up and test new machines, documenting work performed.
  • Read mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams, schematic drawings, engineering specifications, and service manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Testing machines for compliance with safety standards.
  • Communicate with parts, service, and sales teams daily.
  • Maintain and ensure the smooth operation of the maintenance shop.
  • Participate in projects to improve the safety and performance of existing and new equipment.
Requirements
  • 3 or more years of experience in mechanical, maintenance, automotive, or technical roles.
  • Good knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic power, conveyor, and control systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Be resourceful and find creative solutions.
  • Independent and a team player.
  • Experience in repairing or maintaining food processing, packaging, or automation machinery is highly desirable.
  • Welding experience is necessary.
  • Millwright, Fitter, or Machinist, Red Seal certified or experienced apprentice is an asset.
Compensation & Work Schedule

$70,000-$80,000/year

Day shifts, Mon-Fri
