Position: Shipper
Terms of Employment: Full-time / Permanent
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week

Duties:
- Planning, overseeing, and staging loads and unloads for Forklift Operators to load trucks
- Using computer software and mobile devices to maintain internal record-keeping system and good communication with co-workers and customers
- Ensuring that there is a constant awareness of reduction of waste with the most efficient use of time and elimination of non-value added activities and potential loss
- Determining method of shipping and arranging shipping
- Inspecting work area at beginning of the shift
- Inspecting and verifying incoming goods against invoices, recording shortages, and rejecting damages goods;
- Packing goods to be shipped and affixing identifying information and shipping instructions
- Reporting any hazards, safety concerns, breach of safety practices and/or any known contravention of the OHSA or regulations and completing report
- Ensuring all tasks are completed in a safe manner in compliance with regulatory, legislative guidelines and company health and safety polices and procedures
- Only operating the equipment after being certified through Operator Ready training, in a safe and responsible manner
- Reporting any safety concerns/property damage that occurs to the supervisor immediately
- Panning loads for shipping
- Scanning load tags
- Picking and sorting loads
- Planning loads for staging
- Delegating tasks to Forklift Drivers
- Identifying new materials and inventory
- Adding Contracts and uploading documents to Recy
- Documenting materials and inventory via photos/videos
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of shipping standards
- Knowing customer specifications and inspecting material for compliance
- May operate forklift, handtruck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods
- Additional tasks as requested
Requirements:
- Secondary school is required
- 2+ years experience in shipping is required
- 2+ years experience operating a Forklift with rotator/clamp is required
- Experience in Metal Recycling is required
- Forklift Licence is required
- Driver’s license is required [please confirm candidate has attained this]
- Proficient use of computers and mobile devices
- Good understanding of metal grades
- Must have 360-degree awareness of workspace
- Must have prescribed personal protective equipment
- Knowledge of WHMIS, Spill Response, Environmental & Quality Policy and Emergency Response procedures (Fire Drills…etc.)
- Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to follow instructions
- Has a desire to learn and is self motivated
- Ability to work well with co-workers
- Able to work indoors and outdoors with abrasive noise from machines
