Service Planning Officer – Transperth Train Operations

Division: Transperth Train Operations | Position No: 32253 | Closing Date: 2025‑12‑29 5:00 PM | Location: Perth | Job Type: Permanent – Full Time | Salary: Level 5, SOA, $112,595 – $123,930 pa plus 12 % superannuation

About the Role

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a committed and motivated Service Planning Officer to join the Transperth Train Operations team. Reporting to the Service Planning Manager and based at our Perth Station office, this role is responsible for the development of train service schedules for daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilise contemporary scheduling software to produce train running information, crew schedules and rosters, ensuring compliance with PTA business needs, track closures and special events.
  • Publish train schedules and rosters in line with PTA policies, operational requirements and approved contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and distribute Special Train Notices and daily operational reports, liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide training and mentoring to planning staff on scheduling and rostering systems, including data entry, processing and reporting functions.
  • Analyse passenger utilisation and operational performance data to recommend service improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
  • Significant scheduling, rostering and / or resource planning experience within a complex operational environment.
  • The ability to manage, oversee and / or support projects in relation to scheduling and rostering.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret policies and procedures, provide accurate advice, and ensure requirements are applied effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise and provide advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong IT proficiency in computer systems, with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office and data analysis.
