KEY OBJECTIVE:

As a key member of the Financial Lines underwriting department, you will have the role of managing a book of renewal Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Media, Employed Lawyers, Primary & Excess business, as well as developing and growing new business opportunities. As such you will play a critical role in the growth and profitability initiatives for this large specialty department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy on renewal business, as well as managing key broker relationships.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and developing sources of new Professional Liability business opportunities, commensurate with Chubb’s appetite and underwriting guidelines.
  • Developing and establishing relationships with key local brokers and clients, including conducting broker meetings and training presentations on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure department goals and objectives are met.
  • Providing technical leadership for underwriting/marketing of Professional Liability business on a national basis.
  • Providing technical input in policy form development.
  • Collaborating with team members to achieve customer satisfaction, profit, and goals.
  • Interacting with senior management and product management on a regular basis for general underwriting direction and business strategy.
  • Participating in self-development activities to improve or further develop knowledge of underwriting Professional Liability.
  • Proactively drive the expansion of the book of business while identifying and pursuing new avenues for growth is essential.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a university level curriculum and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous underwriting experience required.
  • Professional Liability experience required.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical ability to evaluate risks according to corporate underwriting guidelines.
  • Proven negotiation skills, gained through established broker/client relationships.
  • Ability to be innovative and creative to develop new opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to respond as a team player, in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
