Reporting to the Corporate Director, Taxation, you will be part of the Finance Department. You will be responsible for supporting the corporate tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax advisory functions. You will work with internal departments, external tax advisors, and other members of the tax team in carrying out his/her responsibilities. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of corporate income tax, mining tax, and information returns, along with supporting documentation for all Canadian companies
- Assist in the review and preparation of corporate income tax returns for foreign companies
- Preparation and review of all transfer pricing documentation and supporting working papers
- Preparation of responses to audit requests initiated by taxation authorities. Candidate would manage the relationship and communication with tax authority auditors.
- Preparation of quarterly and annual IAS 12 tax provision working papers, tax journal entries, and tax continuities (Canada and Foreign)
- Preparation of tax notes for the financial statements
- Assist in managing requests and queries during the review and audit of the quarterly and year-end financial statements
- Ensure SOX compliance by preparing and maintaining tax control documentation
- Assist in the preparation of budgeted and forecasted effective tax rates and tax payments
- Assist with tax due diligence on potential mergers and acquisition activities
- Other special projects and assignments as required that may include providing analysis to executive management on key issues (e.g., Life of Mine Models)
- Assist with the management of corporate legal entity tax matters including preparing tax documentation for amalgamations, and windups
- Assist site teams with payroll and sales tax matters
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or relevant field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- CPAdesignatedor working towards a CPA designation (or other recognized accounting designation or MTAX degree).
- Working towards or willingness to complete CPA Canada’s In-depth Tax Course.
- Experience with income tax provision under IAS12 and Canadian tax return preparation.
- Mining industry experience is considered an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience withTaxPrepsoftware is considered an asset.
- French and/or Spanish knowledge is considered an asset.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at our Corporate Office in Toronto, ON. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
