A leading aerospace company in Canada is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the development of hybrid electrical powertrains for next-generation eVTOL platforms. Salary Range: CAD 165,000 – 210,000 gross/year
A senior-level Systems Engineer is sought to lead aircraft- and system-level engineering activities for next-generation electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) platforms.
This role plays a critical part in cultivating in-house systems engineering capability and fostering a strong systems culture across engineering teams. You will operate in a complex stakeholder environment with evolving requirements, guiding internal teams to scope, develop, and deliver robust, certifiable solutions.

Lead first‑principles, systems‑led development of the hybrid electrical powertrain
Promote and embed systems engineering practices across engineering teams
Act as a technical integrator between project management and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Apply best‑practice systems engineering methodologies to support development and business objectives
Own and apply relevant standards and specifications (INCOSE, ARP4754A, ARP4761, etc.)
Develop safety cases, verification strategies, and risk mitigation plans for the platform
Challenge existing approaches and introduce improvements to engineering quality, productivity, and delivery timelines
Ensure rigor, resilience, and continuous improvement in design solutions
Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, schedule, and budget requirements
Stay current with advancements in systems engineering and aerospace technologies
Drive continuous improvement of processes to enhance safety and efficiency
Serve as a technical leader and role model within the engineering organization
5+ years of experience in systems engineering within aerospace or automotive environments
Experience across all phases of the product lifecycle
Hands‑on experience with systems development and/or test is strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of ARP4754, ARP4761, and related systems engineering standards
Familiarity with eVTOL certification frameworks (TCCA, FAA, EASA)
INCOSE‑aligned systems engineering knowledge and mindset
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in complex, evolving technical environments
