Senior Staff Software Engineer (HRIS Platform) – Hybrid

Location: Vancouver, Canada (WeWork Burnaby Metrotown) • 2–3 days in office, hybrid schedule. US office: 521 7th St, San Francisco.

Compensation: $180k – $270k USD/year + equity.

Role Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to manage tasks, workflows, and clear communication within the team.
  • Design and implement high‑performance data models that drive robust HRIS products.
  • Lead the transition to an event‑based architecture, optimizing the current stack and integrating new technologies.
  • Work across teams to enhance and scale the HRIS, ensuring system reliability and user satisfaction.
  • Provide technical mentorship and coaching to foster skill development and professional growth.
  • Maintain code quality with a bug rate of less than 0.1% in production.
  • Increase team productivity by 20% through new tools and streamlined processes.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of industry experience as an individual contributor in full‑stack web development.
  • Advanced skills in JavaScript with 4+ years of Node.js experience; Ruby on Rails a nice to have.
  • Experience designing and shipping high‑performing data models and products.
  • Strong knowledge of event‑based architecture and modern tooling.
  • 5+ years using Agile methods (Scrum, Jira), GitHub, DevOps, and rapid iteration.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS) and architectural patterns.
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.
