PCB Design Engineer – Semtech, Signal Integrity Products Group.

Overview

Semtech Corporation designs innovative semiconductor solutions and intellectual property cores for the world's most advanced consumer connectivity and data communications products. We are looking for a motivated PCB Design Engineer to join our R&D hardware design team. The successful candidate will become a key member of the design engineering community of the Signal Integrity Products business unit. You will contribute by delivering innovative high-speed board design and assembly for the purpose of performance measurement of semiconductor products.

The successful candidate must demonstrate solid knowledge in high-speed layout and electronic design. The role offers a tremendous opportunity for growth and development in card design as well as electrical modeling, and requires the ability to interface in parallel with several cross-functional teams internally while coordinating with several local and international suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • Hardware Development
    • Develop Evaluation Platforms using cutting edge bill of materials, design tools and manufacturing design rules (30%)
    • Manage Contractors through the definition, design and verification of hardware designs (20%)
    • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and system level signal integrity analysis and optimization using platforms such as Cadence Allegro/OrCAD (50%)
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s program in Engineering or Physics or another discipline relevant to this position.
  • Additional degrees/certifications related to high-speed electrical modeling would be a definite advantage
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Organized and highly adaptable – enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to communicate and work well with other team members
  • High degree of creativity, determination, and innovation
  • RF, Analog, and digital circuit understanding
  • Cadence APD and Allegro advanced knowledge
  • High-speed modeling tools such as HFSS
  • Lab test and measurement, debugging, optimizing hardware using sophisticated lab equipment such as VNAs and high-speed scopes and probe stations
Additional Skills
  • Familiar with a variety of PCBA technologies, including Chip On Board, wirebond, flip chip, optical-electronic devices and high-speed connectors.
  • Familiar with microcontrollers and FPGA
  • Experience with troubleshooting PCBs and systems
