The opportunity

As a Senior Accountant, you will be a professional member of our EY Private, Enterprise Advisory Services team. Our Enterprise practice provides specialized accounting services (review engagements, compilations), and tax (personal and corporate taxes) to small businesses and individuals.

Your key responsibilities

Together with our substantial investments in technology, knowledge, and learning resources for our audit professionals, these enable you to deliver quality assurance services to our clients and their stakeholders as our Assurance senior.

  • Prepare, review and compilation files
  • Perform Notice to Reader and Review engagements
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Prepare personal and corporate income tax returns and other tax slips
  • Assist managers with material for client presentations
  • Understand accounting, and review concepts and apply them to client situations
  • Adapt and review methodologies to a range of client types
  • Foster an efficient, innovative and team-focused environment
  • Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to work with managers, and to coach junior staff
  • Prior experience with investment accounting
  • Perform any other related duties
To qualify for the role you must have
  • University degree or college diploma
  • A minimum of three years of experience in accounting and in performing, review and compilation engagements, as well as tax preparation
  • Proficiency in Taxprep, iFirm and Caseware
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Personal initiative with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with clients, team members and outside parties
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as required
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Strong accounting and tax skills, general ledger, cash receipts, cash disbursements, investment company accounting with knowledge of HST administration an asset
  • Excellent PC skills, knowledge of Taxprep and Caseware an asset
  • T4’s, T5’s, Trust and T5013 and partnership returns an asset
  • The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment
