Aplin is partnering with a leading Canadian real estate developer to hire a Senior Real Estate Paralegal. This in-house role supports residential and commercial transactions, contract management, and compliance, while collaborating with leadership, business teams, and external counsel.

Ideal for adaptable, tech-savvy professionals moving from law firms or in-house legal teams into a dynamic corporate environment, the role focuses on legal operations, risk management, and process improvement to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level support on real estate transactions, contract management, litigation coordination, and regulatory compliance
  • Advise senior leadership on legal risks and mitigation strategies
  • Support licensing, registrations, and builder-related compliance (e.g., Alberta New Home Warranty, deposit insurance)
  • Lead, mentor, and develop legal team members to foster a collaborative, high-performing culture
  • Coordinate team objectives and cross-departmental communications to align with corporate priorities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal legal policies to ensure compliance with legislation and organizational goals
  • Conduct internal training on legal processes, risk management, and compliance best practices
  • Ensure adherence to document management systems, signing authority protocols, and internal approvals
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, compliance, and workflows
  • Partner with project managers, finance, treasury, and accounting on transactions, financings, audits, and corporate matters
  • Review, summarize, and advise on contracts, acquisition agreements, NDAs, and other legal documents for clarity and risk mitigation
  • Oversee legal templates, policy manuals, and systems for accessibility, accuracy, and compliance
  • Lead automation and workflow improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislative changes and industry trends through professional development and conferences

Ideal background:

  • 6+ years’ progressive paralegal experience, including 2+ years in real estate or commercial transactions
  • In-house experience is a strong asset
  • Diploma or degree in Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, or Legal
