Senior Project Manager

Permanent Full-Time

OntarioMD is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Senior Project Manager to lead corporate system and digital health solution initiatives. Reporting within the Corporate Planning function, this position is responsible for managing multiple, concurrent projects that directly support OntarioMD’s corporate strategy. The Senior Project Manager leads projects through the full lifecycle—from business case development and concept exploration to design, implementation, and evaluation—while also supporting internal initiatives aligned to OntarioMD’s corporate objectives.

The Senior Project Manager demonstrates strong communication, problem solving and stakeholder management ability, to effectively manage stakeholder expectations, and lead diverse project teams—both internal and external—toward successful delivery and measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate will be adept at developing business cases, have a solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and experience in managing projects in the healthcare IT sector.

Project Delivery
  • Lead detailed project planning and execution by defining project scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and deliverables in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including business cases, project charters, statements of work, business proposals, project plans, analysis reports, and other key project management artifacts.
  • Apply core project management principles and best practices (e.g., PMBOK, Agile, or hybrid approaches) to manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
  • Identify and proactively address project risks and roadblocks, ensuring smooth project execution and maintaining transparency with stakeholders, and escalates issues for resolution.
  • Track and report on project progress, performance, and outcomes through regular updates to senior leadership and governance committee
  • Partner with business, product, and technical teams to review and finalize BRDs (Business Requirements Documents) and FRDs (Functional Requirements Documents).
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to develop/continually improve project processes to drive towards project success.
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC best practices and compliance with IT governance standards.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to communicate complex concepts concisely and simply to clients, internal and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparent communication and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder forums to drive collaboration and alignment.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders (e.g.: project and executive-level resources at Ontario Health, clinician practices, institutions) to explain the benefits, responsibilities and progress associated with products and services.
  • Develop and deliver communication materials and business presentations tailored to various audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to improve project delivery processes, tools, and frameworks, driving continuous improvement and consistency across initiatives.
  • Create/deliver communications materials and business presentations to internal and external clients/stakeholders.
Corporate Planning Support
  • Ensure projects adhere to corporate governance, reporting, and documentation standards established by Corporate Planning.
  • Support portfolio and program-level reporting, providing input on project status, metrics, and performance indicators for enterprise dashboards.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Planning team to identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Mentor project team members and peers on project management practices and the consistent application project management frameworks.
  • Participate in enterprise planning cycles, providing insights from active projects to inform prioritization and resource allocation decisions.
Requirements that are important to us
  • University degree in Health Informatics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or certification in progress is required.
  • At least seven (7) years of project management experience, including within the healthcare industry, with a minimum of five (5) years as a Project Manager.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, change, and release management).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects in healthcare IT from inception to completion.
  • Strong business acumen, solution oriented, critical thinker, and creative problem solver.
  • Ability to influence and work productively with multiple partners.
  • Experience in developing detailed analysis, interpretation and opinion to support and guide senior stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Comprehensive project planning experience (e.g.: business planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk/problem management).
  • Experience working in a formal and structured project management environment/project management office.
  • Good understanding and experience of Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills, and able to present technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with vendor and team relations, change management, and multi-tasking is a requirement.
  • Experience with MS Office and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio is required.
  • Familiarity with Ontario’s healthcare system and relevant organizations, such as Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of MS SharePoint is an asset.
