Why is this role important

As the Senior Product Manager of Experience Platforms you will take the lead in ensuring we have foundational Web and App platforms that enable our audience-facing teams to bring new content experiences to market as quickly as possible. The platform teams are responsible for the core technology that multiple teams work on. This role includes aligning or consolidating underlying technology libraries and ensuring functional parity across our many platforms. You will work with many departments across CBC to prioritize and execute on business priorities impacting revenue and data insights. You will coach and lead the Product Owners for Web and Apps Platform on identifying accelerators that many teams can utilize. You will partner with Engineering to prioritize tech stack upgrades keeping technical debt contained and improving and automating testing and deployment processes and tools.

We are currently starting an App platform transformation that involves rearchitecting our entire App with a Clean architecture and utilizing KMP shared libraries that reduce rework between iOS and Android Apps. This role would be critical in prioritizing aligning and planning work with multiple teams. The goal is to allow key areas of the app to iterate on their experience while we work through replatfoming major areas. This will require strong team coordination negotiation and expert analysis of trade-offs.

In the long-term you will create a vision and objectives for your teams : to make sure our platform capabilities allow our experiences to be adaptive to changing audience needs. Key measures of success will be speed-to-market platform performance measures like Google Lighthouse score and improving ROI on introducing new data ad tech personalization and other shared backend capabilities across our entire product ecosystem.

What you bring to our team

Provides direct product leadership coaching and role modelling for Product Owners in the portfolio reinforcing product discipline and principles are applied in our approach to delivering product.

Oversees the Web Platform Team and App Platform team portfolio of work being the main communication point for other product and stakeholder teams across the organization providing overall status reporting and supporting in the mitigation of value risk usability risk viability risk feasibility risk.

Actively works with other product teams on joint roadmaps and planning sees those plans through execution by removing roadblocks communicating and reinforcing priorities and often lead joint technical troubleshooting.

Plan and manage delivery of our App Platform transformation planned over the next year.

Understand the challenges faced by developers audience experience product managers product designers and content producers and work with team to ideate on solutions.

Owns and co-develops the strategic 3 to 12 month roadmap for the Platform teams with the Product Leads and Technical Solutions Architect.

Work closely with other Platform Product Portfolios to enable their needs to be integrated into the front-end experience : Content Creation Analytics and BI Identity and Personalization Marketing and Revenue.

Makes critical decisions on the quarterly prioritization and establishment of team workplans.

Acts as intake point for new strategic work making critical decisions on prioritization and roadmap commitments with stakeholders and owns the continuous refinement of quarterly priorities ensuring alignment to business priorities. Acts as the main resource for quarterly planning and departmental inter-dependency management during execution.

Works closely with stakeholders to identify the largest business problems and opportunities leads initial discovery against those problems works with the product teams to hand off to POs for execution responsible for regular and meaningful updates to stakeholders and takes a client centric approach to stakeholder management.

Leads relationships with technical teams within the organization and between Rad-Can and CBC negotiating priorities scope of work and objectives.

Sets and negotiates expectations of senior leadership to ensure that work is aligned with the business value ensuring that problem statements are clear Definition of Done is established across all work measures progress and demonstrates the value that Experience Platform teams provide to the rest of the organization as necessary and required.

Qualifications

Has a Bachelor degree in Computer Science Engineering Technical Business or equivalent

5 years of professional experience in a technical product role developing software applications preferably solutions deployed on high-traffic sites

Demonstrated experience with the iOS and / or Android ecosystem as well as web

Demonstrated experience implementing shared services

Demonstrated experience coordinating work across multiple agile product teams

Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement

Demonstrated facilitation experience

Experience with data platforms used for A / B Testing marketing and digital performance tracking like Adobe Analytics Chartbeat Conductrics Amplitude Comscore

Awareness of the purpose and application of tools such as Atlassians JIRA Confluence and Bitbucket

Nice to have :

Understanding of quality engineering practices test automation and CI / CD

Understanding of audience impact for a media and broadcasting company and developing best in class UX experiences

Knowledge of media domain (e.g. ingestion workflows and streaming protocols) is a plus

Have ability to lead and connect with people inside and outside of the team (eg. other product teams stakeholders as necessary)
