Position
Senior Manager, Indirect Tax, Financial Services Sector
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver exceptional client service, drawing on SLFI experience to provide high-quality technical advice and tailored indirect tax solutions across reorganizations, due diligence, cross-border strategies, and other complex planning and compliance matters.
- Lead coaching and performance management/development for direct reports through goal-setting, providing guidance, regular and timely feedback, and learning opportunities for professional development.
- Participate in the recruitment process (candidate interviews, assessment, and selection decisions).
- Oversee multiple client engagements across various industries.
- Manage the work assignment and performance of engagement team members and be accountable for the outcome.
- Apply strategies for delivering profitable services and influence personal, client and practice area key performance indicators; maximize engagement profitability through effective utilization of resources.
- Liaise with tax authorities and conduct research on tax issues and/or legislation.
- Proactive problem solving with engagement teams and clients.
- Attend client and stakeholder meetings.
- Draft and review reports, correspondence and proposals.
- Make presentations to colleagues, clients, and other groups.
- Be a leader in the Firm by actively sharing leadership for the Firm’s culture and contributing to business plan development and execution.
- Identify and support new business opportunities by understanding the Firm, its service lines, and client relationships.
- Build the Firm’s reputation as the preferred business advisors in key sectors of our growing practice.
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications
Education:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s or advanced level degree (Masters) in related field: Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Law, and/or Taxation.
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CMA; or CPA, CGA) or recognized equivalent. Please note: the requirement for CPA or an equivalent credential—whether for this role or future opportunities—may be contingent on applicable jurisdictional regulations or business needs governing work performed on behalf of clients-facing.
- Completed CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program.
Experience and Attributes:
- Minimum 7 years’ indirect tax experience in public practice or industry.
- Knowledge of SLFI (Selected Listed Financial Institution) designation under Canadian Excise Tax Act, including GST/HST compliance requirements for financial institutions operating across multiple provinces.
- Recognized as a tax specialist in the area of service; strong technical expertise in indirect tax, planning and compliance.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple engagements and work effectively under pressure.
- Articulate, inspiring and versatile communicator (verbal and written).
- Agile in the face of change and proven problem-solver with solid analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to earn the trust and confidence of clients and colleagues at all levels, influence decision-makers, and lead change.
- Team player with ability to rally resources and work with others to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of clients.
- Ability to establish and develop meaningful business relationships with colleagues, clients and in the marketplace, based on strong rapport, trust and respect.
- Strong management and inclusive leadership skills, especially in coaching and development of team members, project management, and multi-team management.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented multi-tasker who works equally well independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Tax software applications, with ability to quickly grasp new technology tools.
