Title: Senior Manager, Global Banking and Markets, Marketing

Purpose Contributes to the overall success of Marketing for Global Banking and Markets (GBM) globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Champions a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates marketing programs and initiatives in support of GBM’s goals and driving revenue growth globally.
  • Ensures that marketing activities that are undertaken are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, style guidelines, and procedures, escalating where necessary to ensure appropriate signoffs and approval processes are followed.
  • Supports strategic planning and operations for GBM Marketing including contributing to annual marketing planning, strategic initiatives and special/ad hoc projects, events, and strategy and executive deck support.
  • Manages GBM marketing budget with a focus on budget planning and forecasting.
  • Liaises with Global Brand team to support execution of brand activities within GBM Marketing.
  • Ensures all marketing materials have consistent messaging and visual alignment, including ad reviews, trademarking/legal, guidelines, and logos.
  • Implementation of new brand across business line marketing campaigns, assets, and business-line materials including Conference assets.
  • Sponsorship and event advertising for business line needs.
  • Non-campaign campaign planning/development/production of brand assets.
  • Rolling out brand guidelines and assets, and training country marketing partners.
  • Manages physical inventory management for pitchbook covers, folders, tabs etc. and any rebranding required.
  • Manages day-to-day relationships with internal marketing partners, agencies and vendors.
  • Maintains the Marketing Resource Centre to ensure it aligns with Scotiabank’s brand standards and contains up-to‑date materials.
  • Manages comprehensive merchandising and gifting strategy globally.
  • Supports sales enablement efforts with development of pitchbooks.
  • Executes GBM’s awards strategy including coordination of award submissions and input to publication with GBM business lines, and coordinates amplification of wins across internal and external channels. Contributes to enterprise website/task force and maintains tracking for wins and shares with key partners.
  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree with Major in Marketing, with 7+ years’ experience in a marketing management role.
  • Incumbent must be considered an expert in his/her field and provide credible advice and counsel to business line management (VP and higher) as it relates to marketing communications.
  • Broad knowledge of financial markets.
  • Spanish language skills an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong persuasion and negotiating skills, to build constructive, supported solutions and obtain co‑operation and support from stakeholders and senior management and cost‑effective deliverables from agencies and third‑party vendors.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior management teams across Global Marketing & Global Communications, business lines, and external partners and vendors.
  • Strong co‑ordination, strategic influencing and people management skills, to facilitate strong teamwork and coordinated execution of multiple deliverables.
  • Detailed understanding of client segment(s), products/services and value propositions as well as online media and the use of technology in marketing.
  • The incumbent must demonstrate significant maturity and credibility in dealing with executives, and must be able to work on a highly independent basis.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
  • The incumbent works in a standard office environment with no unusual risk of injury or ill health from physical or environmental factors. The position is primarily non-physical.
  • Occasional travel – for meetings and presentations.
  • Frequent ad‑hoc requests from senior officers for information and status of initiatives.
  • Fast-paced and demanding environment.
