A leading medical device company in Canada is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis for an 8-month contract. This hybrid role requires strong communication and collaborative skills, alongside 10+ years in financial analysis within the industry. The successful candidate will drive financial performance and strategic recommendations across 12 divisions, manage budgets, forecasts and extensive reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Previous management/leadership experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in budget/forecast planning/financial analysis, preferably in the Medical Device industry.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of US/Canadian GAAP.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop FP&A team members.
  • Oversee daily operations, resource planning, and process execution.
  • Direct the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of monthly financial results.
  • Manage enabling function budgets and compensation planning.
  • Prepare consolidated Canadian financial presentations.
  • Partner with divisional and global FP&A teams.
  • Ensure data integrity during month-end close.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to join our finance team for eight months. This critical leadership role will be responsible for delivering financial, analytical, and strategic support across 12 Divisions, the consolidated Canadian operations and international reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving business performance through insightful financial analysis and providing strategic recommendations. You will be responsible for coordinating and analyzing the monthly actual results, annual budgets, quarterly projections and 5-year strategic plan. This individual must serve as a contributing member of the Finance team while championing Stryker’s Mission and Values.

This is an 8-month contract position based out of our Waterdown location. The role follows a hybrid schedule, with the expectation of being in the office one day per week.

What you will do
  • Lead, coach, and develop FP&A team members through goal setting, performance reviews, and professional development opportunities to drive engagement and growth.
  • Oversee daily operations, resource planning, and process execution to ensure timely and accurate delivery of all financial responsibilities.
  • Direct the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and the Long-Range Financial Plan for the Commercial organization.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of monthly financial results, partnering with Financial Reporting to identify and resolve variances.
  • Manage enabling function budgets, compensation planning (including headcount reconciliations), capital budgets, and cash flow projections.
  • Prepare consolidated Canadian financial presentations and performance commentary for executive leadership and U.S. financial partners.
  • Partner with divisional, group, and global FP&A teams to align reporting, planning, and financial insights across regions.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy through continuous monitoring and collaboration during month-end close and reporting cycles.
What you need

Required

  • University Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA professional accounting designation
  • Previous management/leadership experience
  • Minimum 10 years progressive experience in budget/forecast planning/financial analysis, preferably in the Medical Device industry
  • Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of US/Canadian GAAP

Preferred

  • Experience working with Oracle ERP, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and Power BI
