Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Financial Systems (SMFS) , reporting to the Director of Financial Systems (DFS), supports the DFS in the oversight, technical development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of financial systems within Dentons Canada. This role supports the DFS in ensuring that the financial system architecture is aligned with the Firm’s strategic goals and operational needs, supporting the provision of accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making processes. Technical expertise in financial systems and strategic planning skills are essential for success in this role.
The SMFS, working in close collaboration with the Director of Financial Operations, the Director of Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting and the Director, Applications and Integration Services, is a senior leader of the Dentons Canada Finance team. The SMFS is a key point of contact for Finance IT and also a representative of the Finance department on major systems projects around the Canadian Region.
The SMFS is the lead working resource for the data management, data integrity and data governance of the 3E system/financial data warehouse and serves as the Canadian Region Technical Lead in the Global Finance Transformation Project currently underway. The SMFS often represents the Canadian Region in all Global Finance initiatives from a technical point of view and sits on a number of Global Finance IT working teams.
Under the supervision of the DFS, the SMFS manages the integration and maintenance of third party systems, including Chrome River, Intapp Time, Success Factors, Dentons Open, ADP, Tagetik, Billstream, data warehouse, and the core Finance system (3E), which includes relevant integrations.

A combination of a unique set of skills in Finance and Technology are required, including an in-depth understanding of 3E , the Firm’s Financial Data and solid knowledge of the Firm’s financial infrastructure. That knowledge and how financial information maps to the data structures within 3E across all functional areas – Conflicts, Client Intake, Time Entry, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Trust, General Ledger, Management & Financial Reporting and Partner reporting (including partner compensation reporting) is critical for this role. Professional services firm experience is an asset.
