Job Description

Department Overview:

Residing within Enterprise Protect, the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Technology team is responsible for the delivery and support of technology solutions for the respective FCRM business unit. Given the ongoing pace of regulatory change and ongoing importance of risk management, this is a fast-growing area within the bank translating into considerable demand and growth within its technological teams.

We are looking for someone who provides a broad range of system solutions development to business problems through the development and programming of applications / systems. Meaningful work is fueled by meaningful performance and career development conversations with your manager.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with architecture, business owners, analysts, and developers to develop extraordinary solutions to suit business needs.
  • Act as an internal expert resource in the exchange of technical information for project teams and provide technical insight and recommendations to the business and/or outside vendors.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge / expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies, emerging trends / developments, and grow expertise of the business, applications, infrastructure analytical tools and techniques
  • Investigate the potential of emerging and enabling technologies.
  • Participate in applications and systems development and some programming when required.
  • Document and present innovation areas of opportunity to the team based on your own findings and experiences.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to quality, reusability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Review technical deliverables for quality throughout detailed design and development phase, identify gaps or redesign as needed.
  • Respect TD's technology delivery practices and standards, project management disciplines, business technology architecture, and risk and production capacity - this includes thorough project requirements, documentation, scope estimates, and costs.
  • Act as developer lead or consultant on a diverse range of activities (e.g., design, support of technical business solutions) and be relied upon to coach / educate and monitor the work of others for feasibility.
  • Ensure design leverages existing reusable components, traces back to business requirements, and that new modules are designed with reusability in mind.
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues / points of interest
Job Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree, Postgraduate degree, or Technical Certificate
  • Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering)
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Solid mainframe applications experience
  • Extensive mainframe technical skills and working experience including: COBOL, DB2, IMS, JCL, TSO, Endevor, Stored Procedures, CA-7, MQ Series, Visgen, Easytrieve Plus, SPFII, SQL and SAS; Backend APIs (Application Programming Interface) servicing web-based front end portals using JMS and MQ series communication layer; JCL, online and batch programs including new screen development; EBX / TIBCO file transfer services including receiving and transferring files from vendors to HOST and windows landing zones. Python experience an asset.
  • Banking. Anti-Money Laundering and FINTRAC (Large Cash Transaction) experience an asset.
  • Advanced and extensive knowledge of the business (or organization), technical environment, standards, processes, procedures, programming languages and operating systems.
  • Readiness and motivation (as senior or lead developer and valued subject matter expert) to address and resolve highly complex and multifaceted development-related issues, often independently.
  • Subject matter expertise in at least one area of discipline, seasoned in counselling clients and project teams on all aspects of research, analysis, design, hardware and software support, development of technical solutions and testing.
  • Proficiency in leading complex and comprehensive project plan development and can understand risks associated with third-party solution integration.
  • Strength in coaching and advising clients, partners and project teams.
  • Commitment to and belief in the quality of your deliverables.
  • Web technology experience / knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong collaborator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees
  • Resourcefulness - understanding of whom to engage to identify solutions and resolve issues.
  • Excellent judgment, impact, and influence capability, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with leaders at all levels across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Experience with TD technology delivery practices and standards and project management disciplines, business technology architecture, and risk and production capacity, an asset
  • Expert knowledge of the business, the broader organization, technical environment, processes, procedures, tools, and other relevant technology areas (e.g., Architecture, Infrastructure, Security etc.) from a design / support / solutions perspective, an asset
  • Superior communication, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills
