Wage
$75,000 – $85,000. Discretionary bonus. Comprehensive benefits package included + other perks.
Job Description
The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in supporting a fast‑paced manufacturing/production facility. This position partners closely with operations leaders, supervisors, and employees to drive HR initiatives, ensure compliance, enhance employee engagement, and support a safe, productive work environment. The Senior HR Generalist provides guidance across all HR functional areas, including employee relations, recruitment, workforce planning, performance management, training, compensation, benefits, and compliance.
Key responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Serving as a primary HR point of contact for Employees, Supervisors and Managers on policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
- Conduct and document investigations related to employee relations issues, policy violations, and safety incidents.
- Maintain compliance with Canadian employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, WSIB).
- Partner with Safety and Operations to support accident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement of safety programs.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead full‑cycle recruitment for hourly production roles and select salaried positions, including job postings, interviews, selection, and onboarding.
- Collaborate with department leaders to forecast staffing needs and maintain appropriate workforce levels.
- Drive retention initiatives to reduce turnover, especially within production departments.
Performance Management & Training
- Support supervisors in setting performance expectations, coaching, and conducting performance reviews.
- Provide guidance on progressive discipline and performance improvement plans.
- Coordinate training initiatives, skills development programs, and compliance‑related training.
- Identify gaps and recommend training solutions to support plant operational goals.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration
- Assist with compensation reviews, job evaluations, and internal equity assessments.
- Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee communications.
- Maintain accurate HRIS data, personnel files, and HR reporting metrics.
Culture, Engagement & Continuous Improvement
- Promote positive employee relations and foster an inclusive, high‑performance culture.
- Partner with leadership to create recognition programs, engagement initiatives, and communication strategies.
- Participate in HR process improvement projects and support lean/continuous improvement activities within the plant.
Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of HR generalist experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated experience handling employee relations investigations.
- Excellent communication, conflict‑resolution, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
