Our client, a leading financial institution inDowntown Toronto,is looking for a Senior Finance and Accounting Project Managerto develop a comprehensive project plan outlining phases, activities, milestones, and timelines for IFRS readiness. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

Project Planning & Definition

  • Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining phases, activities, milestones, and timelines for IFRS readiness.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Technology, and Operations to identify impacted areas and requirements.
  • Conduct detailed task breakdowns and effort estimations.
  • Define required resources (human, technological, financial) and assess investment needs for the planning phase.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Lead regular stakeholder meetings to gather input, validate assumptions, and build consensus.
  • Present project status updates to the Operating Committee and facilitate decision-making.
  • Prepare executive-level summaries and recommendations for the Executive Steering Committee to ensure alignment and secure approvals.

Project Governance & Control

Develop and maintain key project artifacts, including:

  • Detailed Project Plan
  • RAID Log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
  • Stakeholder Register
  • Communication Plan
  • Meeting Minutes and Action Item Trackers
  • Monitor progress against the plan, identify deviations, and propose corrective actions.
  • Facilitate issue resolution and escalation as needed.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in project management within Finance or Accounting domains.
  • Experience with implementing IFRS standards
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (eg, preparing a PowerPoint presentation)
  • 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and driving complex initiatives
  • Proficiency with MS tools (e.g. Excel)

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Project management experience within the banking industry
  • Experience with IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 9, 7, and 18

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field
