  • Ensure aquatics and fisheries programs meet short- and long-term program requirements and goals.
  • Support all aspects of compliance at the mine (Fisheries Authorizations, Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulations, Water Licence conditions and associated mitigation and monitoring plans), including scheduling, data management, laboratory liaison, and quality assurance/quality control.
Technical & Project Management
  • Manage technical consultants and staff, including the development and execution of field and office-based scopes of work.
  • Support field and office-based work associated with baseline studies, environmental effects monitoring, Fisheries Authorization monitoring, and special studies.
  • Review consultant-developed technical reports for baseline studies, annual monitoring programs, special studies, and Fisheries Authorizations.
  • Manage and report on project deadlines, deliverables, and budgets.

  • Support mining operations by providing technical and regulatory guidance related to fisheries and aquatics.
  • Support permitting for new developments and changes to existing developments.
  • Obtain and manage fisheries permits as required.
Health, Safety & Community Engagement
  • Develop and maintain work procedures, health and safety procedures, and risk assessments for fisheries and aquatics programs.
  • Ensure effective regulatory and community engagement on fisheries and aquatics programs.
  • Present monitoring results and study findings to regulators, Indigenous partners, and other stakeholders.
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in biology with specialization in fisheries or aquatic biology.

  • Master’s Degree would be considered an asset.
  • 10+ years of directly related technical and/or project execution experience.
