Job summary

As a member of the Healthcare Evaluative Research (HER) team, the Senior Economist is responsible for conducting research and analysis in the areas of health services research and/or health economics to support health policy evaluation and development.

How you will make a difference
  • Preparing academic research papers related to physician and population health interests
  • Conducting analysis using large healthcare administrative databases, survey datasets, and external data sources as appropriate to address policy relevant research questions
  • Collaborating with other departments in evaluating existing datasets and identifying information gaps that need to be filled
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and data visualizations for various departments, committees and other partners to explain research and analytic findings
  • Developing and strengthening relationships with external partners to identify opportunities to share information, collaborate on projects and influence outcomes
Requirements that are important to us
  • PhD in Health Services Research, Economics, or equivalent
  • 2-5 years’ relevant experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with statistical/economic software, including SAS, STATA, and related applications
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare system, OMA’s role, and key data/information sources (e.g., CIHI, OHIP, OPRC)

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
