Job Title: Senior Designer

Engineering Division

Mississauga, Ontario

$90,000-$100,000

Flynn Group of Companies is looking for a Senior Designer to join their Engineering and Design team. The Senior Designer will design packages for awarded projects and support BIM Specialists, Drafting, and Job Captains to meet project deliverables for modular unitized systems. The Senior Designer will also provide support for the Business Development team on pursuits by creating early concept, project specific design packages at bid stage. This role will have an emphasis on utilizing 2D CAD, 3D Modeling in Inventor. Lastly, the Senior Designer will provide support to the R&D team for future design and development of systems based on project specific pursuit.

A Day in the Life:

-Recognize and solve basic and advanced Speedwall detailing issues; demonstrate understanding of basic curtain wall construction methods.

-Read and understand Architectural and Structural Drawings.

-Foresee/solve and address issues as they arise.

-Read and review specifications providing input for potential risks.

-Organize and schedule projects.

-Resolve outstanding drawing issues and pursue contract clarifications as required.

-Ensure all aspects of the project have been addressed and conveyed into the final shop drawing package.

-Create assembly and installation manuals that are specific to projects.

-Generate design packages for preconstruction team during project pursuit.

-Ensure compliance with contract documents, building codes, and performance requirements.

-Assist with VMU and PMU for projects.

-Work with the manufacturing and installation team for project specific design questions.

-Demonstrate understanding of building science, construction, and sequencing in all design deliverables.

-Provide technical assistance to QC personnel as needed.

-All other duties assigned.

What You Bring:

-Completion of Post-Secondary degree/diploma in Architecture, Engineering or Building Science.

-Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a similar role.

-Skilled user of AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit.

-Ability to read plans and specifications.

-Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
