Salary

Job Overview

This exciting job opportunity as a Data Analyst (or Senior Data Analyst) will be part of the Personal Lines Pricing Insights team and play a key role in building data products and reporting that supports decision making in Pricing and other related functions. You will be responsible for solving business problems and discovering business insights using data, statistics, predictive modelling techniques and visualization to communicate analysis to technical and business audiences.

Job Responsibilities
  • Researches, extracts and transforms complex data from relevant sources with a strong emphasis on data quality.
  • Performs data analysis to generate insights, visualizations and reports for business units and leadership in a timely manner.
  • Provides regular project updates to stakeholders including potential obstacles and proposed solutions.
  • Clearly documents key projects and processes.
  • Collaborates efficiently in a team environment and develops strong working relationships across teams, including with Data Analysts from other functions.
  • Develops and advises on best practices for business stakeholders, including consultations for their data and reporting explorations.
  • Evaluates existing processes to find opportunities for increased efficiency.
  • Commits to professional development and continuous experiential learning to build cross‑functional knowledge and technical skill development.
  • Identifies new industry trends, tools and techniques to implement in the organization.
  • Defines best practices for the team, including training and documentation.
  • Aspires or actively contributes to the mentorship, training and development of team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in data mining, business intelligence, data science or related field.
  • A bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, econometrics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related quantitative field or equivalent work experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with SQL, PowerBI or other similar visualization and reporting tools, and with data modelling.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency working with large datasets in R or Python, or other programming languages.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey complex terminology and concepts into simple terms for stakeholders.
  • Experience working with AWS tools such as S3, Athena, Redshift and Glue, or equivalent tools in a different cloud environment, is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of simple machine learning techniques (such as linear regression and decision trees), with a focus on interpretability is an asset.
  • Functional knowledge of P&C Insurance lines of business is an asset.
