Sr. Cyber Security Specialist
Overview

Our team is hiring a Sr. Cyber Security Specialist to join our growing team and work on a critical transportation system in Calgary. This role aligns with AtkinsRéalis’ mission to transform, embrace digital technologies, and ensure continuous growth of its Industrial Cyber Security capabilities.

The successful candidate will provide security and risk oversight in the specialized field of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and critical infrastructure to a key client. The Sr. Cyber Security Specialist leads the cybersecurity program to define resilient solutions, processes, and systems for the protection of people and critical infrastructure, through delivery of a secure infrastructure.

This position is based at our project office in Calgary, requiring the candidate to be in the office.

Your role
  • Develop and implement the Cybersecurity Program for design and build of the rail system. Identify and mitigate cyber risks, ensure compliance with industry standards, and facilitate collaboration across technology stakeholders.
  • Plan cyber security activities and apply a risk‑based approach in all phases of the project: feasibility, design, test & commissioning, and operation.
  • Promote and enforce OT cybersecurity policies and procedures based on APTA, NIST, IEC 62443, and/or ISO 27001 standards.
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, and operations teams to align cybersecurity strategies across networks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of mitigation strategies.
  • Respond to information security issues during each stage of a project’s lifecycle.
  • Define cyber security requirements to suppliers and engage in procurement activities.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to mitigate cybersecurity threats and improve OT security posture.
  • Assist in incident response and recovery activities within OT environments.
  • Manage client relationships, and advise on recommended actions.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff on projects and teams.
About you
  • Security certifications or demonstrated experience: CISSP, GICSP, OSCP, CEH, CISM, IEC 62443 Fundamentals, CompTIA Security+, CCNP, etc.
  • Experience in critical infrastructure and IRS/OT in the transportation industry.
  • Understanding of IT/OT systems including servers, networks, workstations, and infrastructure.
  • Understanding of Cyber Security roles and responsibilities.
  • Deep knowledge of cyber security frameworks and standards, including APTA, NIST, ISA/IEC 62443, and ISO 270001.
  • Familiarity with OT‑specific cybersecurity platforms and tools (e.g., Claroty, Nozomi, Dragos).
  • Additional considerations (preferred but not mandatory):
    • Understanding of other technology systems:
      • Automation / SCADA / Control Systems.
      • Telecommunications / Network Technology.
      • Information Technology / Data Centre.
      • Computer Sciences / Software Engineering.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., CCNA, CISA, ISO27001 LI).
  • Demonstrated experience with compliance and regulation (NERC‑CIP, CSA, NIS, etc.).
  • Bilingual French / English is an asset but not required.
  • Attributes:
