Role

Client & Program Management

  • Serve as the senior point of contact for assigned accounts, overseeing renewals, coverage reviews, mid-term adjustments, and service delivery
  • Understand client operations, exposures, and risk appetite in order to tailor insurance program design and recommendations
  • Conduct second-level policy reviews and ensure program structure aligns with client objectives
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality service that builds trust and long-term client relationships
  • Lead market strategy and negotiations for complex placements, including layered programs and specialty coverage across mining and energy risks
  • Prepare and oversee marketing materials, underwriting submissions, and placement documents
  • Negotiate directly with insurers on terms, conditions, pricing, and endorsements
  • Address coverage or claims issues requiring escalated market engagement

Technical & Strategic Advisory

  • Provide technical advice on policy interpretation, complex risk scenarios, and coverage adequacy
  • Stay current on emerging trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions impacting the mining and energy sectors
  • Conduct and review client research and exposure data to support program development and insurer engagement
  • Identify and address gaps or inefficiencies in existing programs and recommend improvements

Business Development Support

  • Collaborate with producers and internal teams to support growth of new and existing accounts
  • Contribute to the development of proposals, renewal strategies, and pitch materials
  • Identify upselling or cross-selling opportunities aligned with client needs
  • Maintain awareness of market trends and growth opportunities within the sector

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure timely delivery of binders, policies, invoices, certificates, and endorsements
  • Monitor receivables and coordinate with finance on collection and issue resolution
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communications in EPIC and shared systems
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements, documentation standards, and compliance practices
Key Accountabilities
  • 10+ years of commercial insurance experience, with strong exposure to mining, energy, or complex industrial sectors
  • Proven success in managing mid to large accounts and leading complex placements
  • Valid RIBO license (or provincial equivalent); CIP, CRM, or FCIP considered strong assets
  • Strong working knowledge of property, liability, and specialty coverages in the natural resource space
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to clients and negotiate effectively with insurers
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and confident in managing competing priorities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and insurance systems such as EPIC
