Senior Backend Developer – AI in Sports

Great opportunity for a Senior Backend Developer

Title : Senior Backend Developer

Location : Remote work. Preferably East coast time zone. Office in Montreal and must come to Montreal office 4x a year (travel expenses covered).

Position status : Full time permanent

Salary : 110k-135k with flexibility for a perfect match + 5% bonus + benefits + 3 weeks vacation + Flexible working schedule + Annual Salary review.

Position :

In this Senior Software Developer role, you’ll contribute to the innovative work of a subsidiary focused on video products, while leveraging the resources of, and reporting directly to its parent sports analytics company. This role will require you to be at the Montreal office a few times a year.

Responsibilities include :

Design and build secure, scalable backend systems using Python or similar languages, following industry best practices for testing, performance, and reliability

Design, build, and deploy production-grade Angular or React applications, integrating them seamlessly with backend services

Actively participate in the automation and deployment of backend and frontend services using tools like AWS CDK or Pulumi, ensuring robust CI / CD pipelines and cloud-native architecture (AWS / GCP)

Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members while maintaining a collaborative and respectful working environment

Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring clear understanding of project requirements and technical challenges

Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the engineering team, from processes to tooling to coding standards

Qualifications :

BA in Computer Science, engineering, or relevant technical fields

7+ years of experience as a backend developer, with significant hands-on experience building and maintaining production systems

2+ years of experience in building frontend applications in React, Angular or similar frameworks

Strong experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs, with a focus on security, performance, and scalability

Experience managing infrastructure using tools like AWS CDK or Pulumi and deploying services to cloud platforms (AWS and / or GCP)

Proficiency in writing automated tests using Pytest and working with PostgreSQL databases

Strong understanding of version control systems (, Git) and CI / CD best practices
