Salary Range: SP4, Level 6, $116,960 - $146,200 per year. The final compensation for this position will be determined based on individual factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Senior Advisor, Government Engagement & Regulatory Change - Hybrid

The Opportunity

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking an experienced and forwardthinking professional to join its newly established Strategy, Communications & Government Relations Branch as a Senior Advisor, Government Engagement & Regulatory Change. In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape and steward the relationship between the AER and the Government of Alberta (GoA), guiding conversations and decisions that influence responsible energy development across the province. Drawing on your understanding of the Responsible Energy Development Act and the Integrated Resource Development System, you’ll collaborate closely with both AER and GoA partners to navigate complex issues, advance strategic priorities, and contribute to regulatory evolution.

Situated within a dynamic new branch in the CEO’s Office, this role offers a unique position with exposure to organizational priorities, blending strategic thinking, issues אַד management, and support for leaders. You’ll play a key connective role between highlevel strategy ensuring alignment, clarity, and effectiveces processes in a fastpaced and impactful environment.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Lead development, coordination and execution of GoA engagement planning to ensure that AER regulatory development is aligned with GoA’s policy development.

  • Facilitate resolution of issues through engagement with subject matter experts and GOA counterparts.

  • Build and maintain relationships within AER and GoA to advance critical priority projects in a timely manner.

  • Manage and lead responses to requests for policy advice, technical assistance, including ఉండ analysis and communication around key policies with potential impacts to the AER.

  • Strategically connect AER and GOA counterparts regarding emerging regulatory development risks and opportunities, providing leadership to معن alignment and positive outcomes.

  • Establish and sustain strong, trusted working relationships with GoA partners, key industry stakeholders, and others as required, in support of major projects and initiatives.

What we’re looking for in you:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, public administration, communications, economics, business, environmental studies, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in regulatory systems, government relations, policy development, issues management, or strategic planning within complex organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, frame, and navigate complex issues, providing clear analysis and recommendations to senior leaders.

  • Successful experience working with multidisciplinary teams, senior executives, government partners المسلحة and industry stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of AER’s mandate and jurisdiction including relevant legislation and associated mandate and roles. Strategic thinking with ability to assess and appropriately manage information and requests of a sensitive nature, understanding impacts of various perspectives and priorities.
