Job description

As a senior data engineering advisor, you help develop solutions for collecting, integrating, consolidating, cleaning, sorting and transparently mining data. You help develop, maintain, support and run computer applications and data pipelines, while ensuring the functional analysis, IT design, coding, fine-tuning and documentation of programs.

You lead different stakeholders in projects to meet a variety of business needs, by developing scalable data mining solutions and through complex, strategic data engineering initiatives. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of your line of work. You use your analytical skills and comprehensive, detailed knowledge of the organization and the line of business to help solve business problems that are highly operationally and conceptually complex and involve data collection and storage platform scalability. You analyze client and partner business needs, make recommendations and are responsible for highly complex initiatives, taking into account the specifics of IT design for data management systems, and ensuring everything is aligned when the systems go live. You serve as an expert advisor and subject matter expert on data management systems for different stakeholders, and as a resource person and coach for decision‑making bodies. You interact with many stakeholders working in a wide range of fields to understand and communicate issues and influence decision‑making. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Oversee the design and building of data collection systems and platforms for a wide range of complex data engineering initiatives.

  • Oversee the development of data pipelines, and the integration, transformation and consolidation of data from different systems into structures that are adapted to a wide range of contexts.

  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and improvement of large‑scale systems that meet business needs.

  • Use various script languages and tools for storing and producing highly complex sets of data.

  • Oversee the development of algorithms, prototypes and proofs of concept within highly complex projects.

  • Identify opportunities to improve systems based on trends and behaviours, anticipate underlying impacts of changes and enhance data management services.

  • Draft data engineering best practices and procedures, and ensure that parameters are applied properly. Make sure that documentation is drawn up and that training is prepared and delivered.
