Role Summary

The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounting relating to capital and expense projects, performing analytical procedures, managing month-end close, completing the month-end process related to Fixed Assets, and supporting the Manager of Corporate Accounting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and present the monthly Fixed Asset reports in a timely manner.
  • Prepare all financial statement notes, audit requests, and management reporting associated with Fixed Assets.
  • Assist with memos and policies as required.
  • Liaise with accounting, treasury, and fleet management to understand, document, and report on the monthly fixed asset capital expenditures.
  • Provide various financial information to stakeholders.
  • Support internal audit compliance, external auditors, and tax processes.
  • Create and manage non-aircraft lease accounting based on IFRS and US leasing standards, including preparing and posting monthly entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, cash flow, Capex, gain/loss analysis, and depreciation analysis.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and ensure compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP for statutory filings.
  • Ensure depreciation aligns with CHC’s policies and support profit elimination for intercompany fixed asset work.
  • Review fixed asset suspense accounts and liaise with groups to verify work completion.
  • Review IT expenses for capital nature and monitor costs against budgets.
  • Review depreciation policies to reflect current fair market valuations and minimize impairments.
  • Support MD&A notes, fixed asset impairments, and contribute to process improvements.
  • Assist with aircraft movement recordings and statutory financial statement preparation.
  • Participate in internal audit testing and mentor other divisions with fixed asset modules.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Required:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience (beyond education).
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

Desired:

  • Thorough knowledge of Fixed Asset / Lease Accounting.
  • Experience with Infor M3 general ledger system.
  • International and IFRS accounting experience.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and quality-focused.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to interact with staff at all levels.
  • Independent and team-oriented, capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills and process improvement aptitude.
