Job description
Position Summary

The Security Shift Supervisor leads a contract Security team across Quinte Health, a 4-hospital network in the Hastings and Prince Edward Region. Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health, Safety and Security, this individual will be responsible for the day-to-day Security Operations, Oversight on the deployment and deportment of the contracted Security Staff, be a leader in Emergency Response within the Hospital and be a direct point of contact with Emergency Services in relation to Emergencies involving the Hospital.

Required
  • Post‑secondary education at a university or college level in Security and Law Enforcement, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Security or Law Enforcement field, or equivalent experience.
  • High level of knowledge of security procedures and use‑of‑force applications.
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License at the time of hire (must be maintained throughout employment).
  • Sound working knowledge of related legislation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Physically fit and able to perform all security functions.
  • Emergency preparedness experience is an asset.
  • Healthcare experience is an asset.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation, as some inter‑site travel is required.
Duties
  • Supervise security staff at Quinte Health, participating in the active enforcement of Federal, Provincial, and Municipal laws, as well as Quinte Health policies.
  • Ensure timely completion of Incident and Ontario Use of Force reports by contract security guards during shifts.
  • Respond to all Emergency Code calls and liaise with emergency services as required.
  • Maintain daily logs of issued equipment and daily timesheets.
  • Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and participate in staff and patient safety plans.
  • Verify daily deportment and security license of contract security provider.
  • Maintain an operational relationship with the contract security provider and communicate staffing requirements.
  • Conduct investigations as required.
  • Utilize access control, CCTV, and hospital ID card programs.
  • Enforce Quinte Health company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain inventory control of all locker and parking requests from staff, including inspection of parking equipment.
  • Perform any other duties as required/assigned.
