Overview

DropGenie is building infrastructure to accelerate drug discovery. We are developing an automated microfluidic platform that makes complex cell engineering workflows simple, standardized, and automation-ready. Our technology empowers scientists to generate precisely modified primary and immortalized cell lines on demand, bridging the digital and biological to accelerate discovery and therapeutic development.

We are seeking an experienced scientist to lead testing and protocol development on our platform. This role will involve applying rigorous scientific methods, analyzing results, and communicating findings to the broader team. It is structured as a contract position with the potential to transition into a full-time role.

What You’ll Do
  • Independently maintain, expand, and engineer mammalian cell cultures, with an emphasis on primary cells
  • Design, implement, and refine experimental protocols for our microfluidic platform
  • Assess viability and functionality of edited cells via flow cytometry, microscopy, and molecular biology assays
  • Analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate scientific results to the multidisciplinary team
  • Collaborate with engineers to provide biological insights that shape device development
  • Contribute to protocol optimization and standardization across diverse cell types and applications
What We’re Looking For
  • MSc (minimum), PhD, or postdoctoral experience in Biological Sciences or related field
  • Extensive experience (4+ years) with mammalian tissue culture, including primary cells
  • Strong knowledge of cell engineering or gene editing workflows
  • Proficiency with flow cytometry and molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA extraction, sample prep)
  • Excellent data analysis, scientific reasoning, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, drive projects, and thrive in a fast-paced startup setting
Nice to Have
  • Experience with laboratory automation and liquid handling systems
  • Familiarity with microfluidics or miniaturized biology platforms
  • Prior experience working in a cross-functional or startup environment
