A regional health authority in Fort St. John is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide ongoing respiratory care in a multidisciplinary setting. You will work both independently and as a part of a collaborative health care team. The ideal candidate will have a proven work ethic, be committed to continuous improvement, and possess a valid registration for their regulated profession. In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Respiratory Therapist practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as outlined by the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) as well as within a client and family centered care model. Performs ongoing respiratory care in a multi-disciplinary setting to clients with a variety of illnesses/diseases including, but not limited to acute and/or chronic cardio-respiratory illnesses or pathologies by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. Consults, confers and collaborates with other health care professionals. Demonstrates continuous improvement and best practice approach in respiratory practice. Maintains and advances own clinical competence. Participates on committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)
Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Some more highlights about the hospital:
Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town of Fort St John is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population of Fort St. John is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. There are seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one secondary school. There is also a Northern Lights College campus.
