Location(s): Canada – Ontario – Toronto

Overview

As a Resilience Architect, you will actively support architecture teams across Scotiabank, ensuring the resilience of their architectures. Your work will involve reviewing solutions in various architecture review boards, advising projects on resilience improvements, designing resilient patterns, and contributing to resilience-related templates, policies, and standards. You will collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and technology teams throughout Scotiabank.

Responsibilities
  • Review projects in Enterprise and other Architecture Boards, championing adherence to resilience policies and standards for new and existing solutions.
  • Lead or participate in reviews of existing or implemented solutions in production, establishing resilience posture and determining deficiencies and improvements.
  • Participate in discussing, elaborating, and maintaining architecture guidance and governance artifacts in the domain of technology resilience.
  • Advise and support architecture teams on designing resilience systems and adhering to the resilience mandate.
  • Contribute to the analysis of major or recurring incidents (post‑mortem reviews) where deficiencies in architecture or engineering are key contributors to failure, translating outcomes into feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the development of guides, patterns, templates, reference architectures, policies, standards, and baselines related to resilience.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional background.
  • Knowledge and expertise in at least five technology disciplines (software development, API management, containers, system design, information security, technology third‑party management, cloud computing –‑ bias toward VMware, Azure and GCP, mid‑range and mainframe computing, database management, operating system management, incident‑problem‑change management, and network management).
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, and/or SABSA.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT and system architecture, including work with large‑scale distributed systems in financial institutions.
  • Strong leadership instincts, well‑developed analytical thinking, communication effectiveness, and strategic influencing competencies.
  • Well‑developed foundational knowledge across multiple technology disciplines, with Cloud as a must.
  • Advanced understanding of related domains such as IT risk, security, delivery process, operations, etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within and outside the team with other domain partners.
  • Ability to research and learn new technologies independently.
