This role focuses on engineering excellence within the manufacturing process, directly influencing the team’s ability to deliver on service, quality, and timely objectives. While guided by operating policies, the position offers moderate autonomy, empowering you to make critical operational decisions. Success in this role demands a high degree of judgment and strategic thinking to drive impactful outcomes.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • People leader for all of Gate 2 special processes within both plants
  • Technical focus and mentorship of Special Process Owners to ensure process adherence to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost
  • Provide training for their special process in their facility, including operators, technicians, and additional SPOs
  • Provide guidance on equipment purchases and approving their use after installation or major maintenance.
  • Approve new or revised work instructions, operation sheets, routers, and technical plans.
  • Define and control production process including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment. Includes Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma/GED with an additional 4+ years of experience in repair processes such as shotpeen, welding, thermal spray, heat treat, etc.
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience
