Overview

Join Quinte Health's Surgical Unit as a dedicated nurse, where you'll engage with a diverse range of patients, spanning medical, surgical, and palliative care needs. Our unit offers a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 and 28 beds, including two specialized palliative care suites, supporting comprehensive end-of-life care. Opportunities for career growth abound within our unit, with pathways to various roles including preceptor roles and opportunities to expand knowledge of wound care. Success on Quinte Health requires strong time management, the ability to prioritize effectively, and a willingness to seek guidance from PCL staff when needed. Required

  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
  • Minimum of 6 months working experience on a medical or surgical inpatient unit or final student placement on an inpatient surgical unit within the last year.
  • Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review).
Duties
  • Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care to assigned patients with predictable outcomes, utilizing specialized knowledge, skills and judgment.
  • Responsible and accountable for the coordination and delivery of care within the framework of collaborative practice, consulting and collaborating with Registered Nurses and other members of the health care team, as required.
  • Demonstrates excellence in communication, patient-centered care, and teamwork/collaboration.
  • Documents proficiently according to standards and Quinte Health policies.
  • Participates in quality assurance and continuing education programs to ensure a high level of patient care and efficiencies in the delivery of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
