REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE – OPERATING ROOM - "GROW YOUR OWN" OPPORTUNITY (REGULAR PART-TIME)

A “Grow Your Own” opportunity is available for a nurse who has an interest in a career within the Operating Room, but does not possess the qualifications. Financial support will be available to the successful candidate with a return of service agreement. Preference through this opportunity will be given first to candidates who possess the OR - RPN certification.

This regular part‑time position is available in the Operating Room for an Operating Room Technician (RPN).

This position is unionized with UNIFOR, Local 1106.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
• Current BCLS certification
• Operating Room Course
• General medical experience required
• Must be available to take on call and meet the call back requirements
• IV Therapy Course (or up to scope)
• Cardiac Monitoring / Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (or willingness to obtain within 3 months)
• Demonstrated Physical Assessment skills
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience in working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting
• Demonstrated lifelong learner
• Team player
• Satisfactory performance and attendance required
• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Must complete a Pre‑Employment Health Assessment

HOURS OF WORK:

• Must be available for day, evening and night shifts; as per department schedule

SALARY:

• $34.58 - $35.98 per hour
