Position

Registered Practical Nurse

Department

The Inpatient Surgery department offers post‑operative care to patients that have had surgery or are under the care of one of the surgeons as well as providing care to Medical patients and Palliative patients.

Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (within the last twelve months).
  • Recent medical and surgical clinical experience in an active care setting (within 3 years) required.
  • I.V. Therapy required.
  • Capillary Blood Glucose certification required.
  • Relevant nursing skills such as working with PCA pump and TPN maintenance required.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.

  • Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team and function well in a team‑oriented climate required.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision required.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensuring safety of self, coworkers, patients, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in the organization.
  • Good attendance and work record required.
  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) required. Unilingual candidates may be considered if French requirement is met or no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate proficiency level.

Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the CUPE (Local 139) Collective Agreement.
