Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the North Haida Gwaii Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Registered Nurse (RN) follows Rural General practice standards and the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) code of ethics. The RN works in a variety of clinical settings and is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of client care, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure client‑centered care.

Rural community hospitals provide a wide range of services and require the RN to be competent in multiple clinical settings. This description covers scenarios where nurses are required to work in one or more areas needing advanced training & experience.

Shift Rotation / Hours of Work

Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)

North Haida Gwaii Hospital & Health Centre provides medical service to Old Masset, Port Clements and surrounding areas. The facility includes 4 Acute Care Beds, 1 Palliative Care Bed, 4 Long‑term Care Beds, and a 4‑unit Assisted Living complex. Services offered include:

  • Emergency
  • Laboratory
  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Pharmacy
  • Chronic Disease Management
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Mental Health and Substance Use Service
  • Home and Community Care & Home Support Services
  • Visiting specialists in Pediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Respirology, Rheumatology, Urology and Ophthalmology
  • Video conferencing with specialists or physicians in other areas
  • Public Health services: Harm reduction, TB testing, Prenatal services with pregnancy registry, Kindergarten screening and school immunizations, Birth control, Pap tests, STI testing

Masset is situated along the shoreline of Masset Sound on Haida Gwaii, formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, and is the largest village on the island. Major industries are logging, fishing and tourism. Masset serves 1,000 local residents and a surrounding area of 2,300, offering elementary and secondary schooling and community support.
