The Role

Medcan is recruiting for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join us on contract. The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with experience in clinical environments and has exceptional communication and client service skills. This role will work in the COVID-19 and flu vaccine clinic at our downtown Toronto location.

This is a temporary 3-month full-time position with the possibility to join Medcan on a permanent basis after the completion of the contract.

The shift times for these roles are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm but may be subject to change. Shifts are primarily scheduled at our downtown Toronto location but may be scheduled offsite on an as-needed basis.

What You\'ll Do
  • Draw-up and administer COVID-19 and flu vaccines to clients
  • Assist and follow the informed consent process for administering vaccines
  • Respond to questions from clients who fail the screening, are not eligible based on current eligibility criteria or who have contraindications
  • Keep abreast of the provincial vaccine roll out plan, eligibility criteria and communicate changes to the teams
  • Ensure the cold chain of the vaccines is maintained and monitors vaccine inventory
  • Monitor for reactions post-immunization and manage any adverse effects following immunizations as required
  • Maintain client confidentiality and ensure that all information is collected
  • Coordinate with other teams and staff to ensure exceptional delivery of service for all clients
  • Respond to all communications including e-mails and phone calls from other team members and managers
  • Flexibility in role, willingness to jump in and support any projects as they arise
What You\'ll Need
  • Registered Nurse in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS certificate
  • Open to recent graduates with experience in clinical practicums, or 1-3 years nursing experience in a clinical setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Great organization and time management skills
  • Intermediate level in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with COVax and Salesforce is an asset
