Job description
THE POSITION

Team 2 at The Midwifery Group is seeking a Registered Midwife for a full‑time position. Ideal start date: March 1, 2026.

We are seeking a Registered Midwife to join Team 2! We have been practicing as a Team of 2 for just over a year and are excited to grow our team! This team will have a full caseload of 912 clients/month. This team would be supportive of a midwife who is keen to do clinical midwifery work while also pursuing other midwifery work or education. We have a new graduate joining our team in July 2026 so are hopeful this team member will have more experience, but anyone may apply. This team prioritizes saving space for people who are choosing home birth or are otherwise seeking care that isn’t being met in another care setting eg. marginalized or racialized clients or those wanting care outside of guidelines.

Our team works in a rotation of call and clinic. There is flexibility in how the schedule is arranged, based on all team member’s needs.

The applicant would either already hold hospital privileges at BC Women’s Hospital or eligible for Privileging.

*There is flexibility to the start date above. If you are not immediately available in the above time frame or need to start work sooner, we will still consider your application.

OUR CLINIC

The Midwifery Group is a busy and supportive midwifery practice located in a beautiful storefront location at 3979 Fraser St. in Vancouver, British Columbia. Established in 1998, we have a strong presence in our community and relish the diversity of our clientele. We believe in supportive and sustainable arrangements of sharing call and are keen to experiment with models of midwifery care that support our individual midwives to have rewarding careers and maintain a healthy work‑life balance. We enjoy our work, and we enjoy each other’s company.

This is great neighborhood with lots of amazing food at our doorstep!

We have excellent full‑time administrative support which includes support with billing and use an electronic medical record (Oscar) to provide safe and coordinated client care in a team‑based midwifery model. Our clinic currently operates with 3 teams of midwives that support each other, hold regular clinic meetings and social team building events. We also have a range of allied health professionals that work out of our clinic including lactation consultants, massage therapist, dietitian, counsellor, and acupuncturist.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE
  • Eligible for registration by the start date or already registered with the College of Midwives of BC and the Midwives Association of BC. Please do not apply if you are not registered or eligible to be registered within the time frame.
  • Experienced with and commitment to providing home birth, even for clients who elect home birth or other care out of BCCNM regulations.
  • Skilled in supporting clients to have physiologic births, including waterbirth, advanced training or interest in advanced training in this area (e.g., acupuncture for pain relief in labour, spinning babies, etc.).
  • Ability and interest to work longer call shifts as we are a small team.
  • Invested in developing and maintaining respectful relationships with interprofessional colleagues.
  • Committed to providing evidence‑based, safe and reassuring midwifery care.
  • Interested in creating an enjoyable, collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Experience in providing care to diverse families, with a commitment to anti‑racism and continued growth as a person and care provider.
  • Highly organized, responsible and engaged in reflexive practice.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, preferably Oscar and Cerner.

Come join Team 2 at The Midwifery Group!

Sincerely,

Marella Falat RM and Nana Ama Twumasi‑Prah RM
