Job summary

A community healthcare organization in Surrey is seeking a part-time Registered Clinical Counselor to facilitate education classes and provide individual psychological treatment within WSBC and ICBC services. Ideal candidates will hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology with experience in trauma treatment and a focus on rehabilitation. Must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with third-party providers.
  • Experience treating clients who have experienced trauma is an asset.
  • Ability to speak Punjabi is an asset.

Overview

REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELOR

STATUS: Part-Time (1-2 days a week) onsite opportunity, contractor status

PROGRAMS: WSBC and ICBC Services

Responsibilities
  • As Clinical Counselor, you will be responsible for the facilitation of education classes, relaxation training groups, and individual psychological treatment / counselling sessions within the context of the WSBC and ICBC services.
  • Provides education classes on a variety of subjects relevant to the WSBC & ICBC Services
  • Provides short-term, one-on-one psychological support and / or treatment to clients; this may include provision of empirically validated psychological treatment (such as Cognitive Behavioural Treatment)
  • Provides time-limited, empirically validated psychological treatment (such as Cognitive Behavioural Treatment) with or to clients with a range of presenting problems / diagnoses
  • Provides psychological treatment within a rehabilitation context and be able to maintain a focus on successful and durable return to work
  • Maintains treatment goals that are realistic in the context of the program and program length
  • Completes intake, progress, and discharge reports in a timely manner and as specified in agreements laid out with customer
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical notes and other records
  • Works effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment; communicate and consult with team members as appropriate
  • Communicates effectively and professionally, as appropriate, with the referral source / customer
  • Demonstrates solid clinical judgment
  • Provides crisis intervention as required
  • Adheres to Back In Motion policies / procedures / practices, as well as standards of service
  • Reviews contracts and ensures adherence to contractual obligations / responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • M.A. in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology: Registered or eligible for registration with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counselors (BCACC)
  • Experience working with third party providers
  • Experience treating clients who have experienced trauma would be an asset
  • Ability to speak in Punjabi, an asset
