Job description
Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance & Engineering Technician to join our dedicated team. In this role, you'll support building maintenance and ammonia refrigeration systems. This is a 6-month contract role where you'll perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on facility equipment, while following all safety and regulatory standards.

Shift

Tuesday-Saturday (7:30 am - 4:00 pm)

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machinery, equipment, and facility structures
  • Assist with inspections and maintenance of refrigeration systems (ammonia)
  • Conduct routine maintenance on material handling equipment per guidelines
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and motorized lifts safely
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving to maintain smooth operations
  • Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures
  • Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience with ice plant operations or ammonia refrigeration (certification preferred)
  • Trade school courses or experience in building, material handling, or refrigeration maintenance an asset
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; able to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to work in cold storage environments (-20°F / -25°C) and warm dry storage (up to 100°F / 37°C) with provided PPE
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
