About the Role

Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment safely while abiding by all policies & procedures. As a B Class Refrigeration Operator, reporting to the Chief Refrigeration Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation/maintenance of all refrigeration systems, boilers and auxiliary equipment.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Maintain refrigeration with ammonia cooling and compressed air systems
  • Follow all safety, food safety, and environmental regulations
  • Ensure proper operation of plant and office HVAC systems
  • Maintain building, roof, floor and report substandard conditions
  • Knowledge of TSSA standards and PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions such as dust, noise, hot and cold
  • Comfortable working in a raw meat (beef & pork) manufacturing plant
  • Basic computer and typing skills
  • Proficient in the English language (reading and writing)
  • Perform emergency duties if required and understand various uses of fire-fighting equipment
  • Complete other related duties as assigned by the Chief Refrigeration Engineer
Required Qualifications
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • 3rd Class Stationary Engineer or a B Class Refrigeration License is required
  • Ability to work continental night shift (12 hours)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food manufacturing environment and CFIA regulations
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a licensed Refrigeration Operator
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Available to work overtime and weekends (if required) to meet business needs
