This opportunity is dependent on the completion of the Construction Adjudication and CanDACC Orientation Program. Details of the Program can be found in the posting below.
The Federal Government has passed legislation permitting resolution of construction related disputes on Federal construction projects through adjudication. The Federal Prompt Payment for Construction Work Act and the related Regulations were proclaimed in force on December 9, 2023.
CanDACC has been appointed as the Adjudicator Authority to oversee and administer these adjudications, and to train and qualify adjudicators to adjudicate these disputes.
CanDACC is looking for a diverse group of construction professionals to become certified adjudicators to adjudicate these disputes. Lawyers who have at least 10 years construction related experience and have an interest in adjudication may apply.
Every adjudicator applicant must complete the Construction Adjudication and CanDACC Orientation Program. No other training can be used to waive the requirement for this training. The next Training course for those who wish to apply to become a certified CanDACC adjudicator will take place on September 18-19, 2025 live via the ZOOM platform.
Attendees will learn about the types of disputes that can be adjudicated, the roles and functions of the adjudicator, how to conduct adjudications, writing determinations and other information.
The training is also relevant for people who want to familiarize themselves with adjudication but do not necessarily wish to become an adjudicator. Those who wish to become a certified adjudicator, must then apply to join the roster once they have completed the training.
The program fee is $995 + tax. You may register here .
After completing the Program, the adjudicator applicant may submit an application package to CanDACC for review. Applicants should wait until after they have completed the training before submitting their completed application package.
